I was at the library earlier today and came across a magazine that featured FRED COUPLES, who was at one time Golf’s World No. 1 player. Fred has won numerous events, most notably the Masters Tournament in 1992. To be very honest, I never heard of Fred Couples until today, but I figured he must be popular (since his picture was on the front page of the magazine). I decided to read the magazine to find out more about this guy.
In the article, “Mr Skin” or “King of the Silly Season” (as Fred is popularly known) outlined some things he learned after playing golf for 30 years. He’s definitely a guy who likes to get the most out of golf and have a great time doing it. Even when his back was acting up or when he wasn’t playing well, he still enjoyed the game. He’s also a guy who is competitive and enjoys winning.
Here are 4 lessons I learned from reading the article:
Confidence is vital. One of the big reasons so many people lack confidence in dealing with others is that they do not understand what they are dealing with. We are always unsure of ourselves and lack confidence when we are dealing with the unknown. The more we know about something – the more confidence we will have in dealing with it.
Focus on the right things. Fred says ‘Putting is the hardest thing in golf – if you can’t read a putt, you don’t have much chance”. When Fred is struggling to make a putt, he thinks “Keep your head still” because he knows that the worst thing you can do is move your body or head just a little bit and you’ll miss the shot. You can also apply the same philosophy when it comes to your home business. Think of the power of the magnifying glass when it is focused at the right angle. It could start a fire or cut through steel if angled right. Wow!
Success depends upon understanding and mastering certain basic general principles. You must not only know what to do, but why you’re doing it. If you learn a new way of marketing your home business, practice it until you become an expert. This will attract people to you and cause them to want to work with you. To improve in any area of your life, you’ve got to work on it. When you get better, so will your confidence. If you’re struggling, don’t be afraid to try something new. If something feels good to you, never hesitate to give it a try.
Pay attention to professional golf. :) You might learn a thing or two.
I was able to find a short video on Youtube that shows some of Fred Couples’ Top Ten Highlights. It’s worth watching.
After watching that video on Youtube myself I put it up as a favorite on my Youtube channel because of the impact it had on me. I realized that Fred’s qualities caused people to be attracted to him because he took the time to work on himself to increase his value to the world.
To be successful in any business, you have to understand how to become attractive to your customers & prospects using ATTRACTION MARKETING techniques. This will cause people to pursue you instead of you pursuing and begging your friends and family to signup in your business or purchase your products/services.
Remember this, my friend. Life is a dream. Dream up what you want…then with time and energy, you manifest it into reality.
To Your Success,
Etieno Etuk
