Blogging is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your websites. But, how do you drive traffic to your blog? Well, by the nature of blogging you will get a lot of traffic as it is. But, if you want to take it to the next level you will want to promote your blog as well. In this post, I want to talk about how you can get the most traffic to your blog in the least amount of time.

Now you’re writing blog posts, shooting videos and recording podcasts, but no one is paying attention. Or at least it appears that way, since nobody’s reading, watching or listening. The fact is that no matter how amazing your content may be, you need to take the extra steps to put it in front of people. Obviously you want the comments, the traffic, the email list and ultimately the money, but it’s just not happening unless you promote your blog. And not promoting just your blog, but also your blog posts and every page you have online. Other than putting content out there, promotion involves use of articles, email marketing and social bookmarking.

So here are 5 fantastic ways to promote your blog:

1. Use of Articles:

You can use articles to drive traffic. Articles are a fantastic way to get visitors to your website. But, when you look at it this kind of sounds like an oxymoron. You are writing articles on your blog. So, why would you want to write and submit articles to other places?

Well, the answer is easy. There are directories that have higher authority than your site. So, you can use that site and leverage the link to your blog to move up in the search engines. Plus, you can get the instant traffic that also comes from submitting to those directories.

2. RSS Directories

An RSS directory is a directory that will allow you to submit your RSS feed and it will post an update every time you update your blog. This is a great way to build back links, and also get traffic. Do a Google search for RSS directories to submit to.

3. Social Bookmarking:

All you have to do is place icons on your blog that allow people to bookmark your content through different social bookmarking websites like Delicious and StumbleUpon. Bookmarks drive almost instantaneous traffic to your content.

4. Commenting On Other Blogs Within Your Niche:

Commenting on blogs really works. On some blogs, there’s a thing called CommentLuv that allows you to link back to your latest blog posts. What you need to do is find blogs that have CommentLuv enabled and comment on their latest posts. Also install the CommentLuv  plugin on your blog if you haven’t already done so.

When commenting on other blogs, make sure you check the box indicating that you want it to display a link to your latest blog entry. This gives your new posts a couple of everlasting backlinks and continuous traffic.

5. Email Marketing

This strategy helps if you already have an email list. If you’re not using your blog to build an email list, you’re missing out big time! That’s the whole reason I blog. Through my blog, I also get a chance to express my opinions about things I’m passionate about.

If you have an email list, send out a quick email telling your subscribers to go check out your latest blog post. As your list grows, email marketing will become a great way of instantly driving traffic and starting lots of conversations in the comments. If you’re not already building a list, start immediately.
