The chances are that when you joined your network marketing opportunity, you were told to write down the names of 100 people you know or are acquainted with and call these people about your opportunity. This is standard across all MLMs, mainly because it’s the fastest way to jump start your business. These folks you are told to call comprise of your warm (or at least lukewarm) market. The challenge here is that if you’re new to network marketing, there’s a great chance your friends are as well. They may not have a lot of social skills or business skills to bring to the party. This is fine, as good network marketing companies provide training in these areas.
Your goal should be to recruit people who are right for your business. If you keep recruiting people who are broke and have no social or business skills, you soon be faced with frustration and disappointment. There is a tendency for most people that work a network marketing business opportunity to recruit DOWN, that is, they recruit people that have less money or are less socially connected than they are. Conducting your business that way is a sure fire way to constantly have to worry about who is going to stay on auto-ship, answer questions about their skepticism, and generally get frustrated with the whole model.
