“I have failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” ~ MICHAEL JORDAN

If you’re going to be successful in your business, you better get hard up there in between your ears.  Nobody is going to do that for you. It’s the mental toughness that will carry you through.  All the great successes in the world are mentally tough. You’re not going to get that except through your own hard work and effort.

You’ve got to be sold out and totally committed to building your business. Don’t let any event or any individual ever steal your dream. It all begins with a decision and a dream. Most people’s dreams don’t qualify because they aren’t important enough to survive the negatives or the failures.

What is a dream?

A dream is a compelling awareness of what should or could be in your life, accompanied by a growing sense of responsibility to do something about it, day after day after day until you get the job done.

Of the many causes of failure within the field of human endeavor, the most frequently referenced cause of failure is the habit of drifting with circumstances without a definite aim or purpose to life. Your dream is your definite aim or purpose to life.

Successful men & women move with definiteness of purpose and never waver, slow down or quit because the going gets hard. They succeed because they know what they desire and lay plans for attaining it and they follow those plans until they are rewarded with success. You will have everything you ever want in life if you don’t quit.

God throws himself on the side of a person who will not quit when obstacles have to be conquered, no matter how many handicaps the individual must master. Most people look at all the things that are wrong and concentrate on that. Well, you attract in life what you think about all the time. Get your brain on what you want instead of what you have right now.

You’ve got to discipline yourself to think right because the person who is not the master of himself may never become the master of anything outside of himself. The man who would understand others must understand himself. Know yourself and you’ll be on the road to understanding others.

You’ve got to make use of your mind. It’s the only thing God gave you that you have exclusive control of. Nobody can mess with it unless you allow it.

You’ve got what it takes. You have everything you need. You just have to let whatever is inside you out. To do that, you must be an example for people to follow. Nature is the greatest example in the world. It does not procrastinate and does not change its plans and sets a beautiful example for people to follow. The successful people follow its example but the failures do not. How would you like it if the sun decided to take a day off because the relatives were visiting?

To live your dreams, you have to be able to take decisions quickly. Have you ever shown your business to somebody and they say “I have to think about it”? Here’s a very important quote by Andrew Carnegie:

“It’s been my experience that a man who cannot reach a decision promptly once he has all the necessary facts for the decision at hand cannot be depended upon to carry through any decision he may make.”

People who reach decisions promptly usually have the capacity to move with definiteness of purpose in every other circumstance of their lives.

Every adversity, defeat, frustration, disappointment or failure brings with it the seed of equivalent or greater benefit if you look for it with a positive mental attitude. Most people don’t. They roll over, whine and wet over themselves and make misery and quit. How can God bless a quitter? Answer: He never will.

To be successful, you need to have some courage. You’ve got to be excited about where you’re going.

Failure is either a blessing or a curse depending on your reaction to it. If one looks upon failure as a sort of nudge from the hand of destiny, which signals him to move in another direction and if he acts upon that signal, the experience is sure to become a blessing. However, if he accepts failure as an indication of his weakness and broods over it until it produces an inferiority complex then it becomes a curse.

Failure usually affects people in one of 2 ways. It serves either as a challenge to greater effort or it subdues and discourages one from ever trying again. You didn’t get into your business to quit. You got in to win. The majority of people give up hope and quit at the first signs of failure, even before it overtakes them and a large percentage of people quit when they’re overtaken by just a single failure. The potential leader is never subdued by failure but is always inspired to greater effort by it.

Nature often knocks down the individual with adversities in order to learn who among them will get up and make another fight. Get up and fight another round. Don’t quit!

The next time you meet with failure, remember that every failure carries with it a seed of equivalent benefit. Recognize that seed and germinate it through action and you will discover that there is never any such reality as failure until one accepts it as such.

“Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. ” – SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL
