Why do people want to get rich? This has been the question that can be answered in as many ways as there are number of people living on this planet Earth. The desire to get rich is tied up with the human desires, wants and needs.
There are many people who go into programs that offer get rich quick schemes which, time and time again have proven to be the downfall of those who were too lazy to consult their common sense or a quick research regarding the get rich quick program being offered to them. “A fool and his money are soon parted” is all-too-often an occurrence.
Let’s try to answer this question of “how to get rich”, from a different perspective.
I recently read a book by Roger Hamilton and he defines wealth in an interesting way.
“Wealth is something you are left with when you have no money”
… interesting distinction but it is so very true. Imagine this scenario Robert Kiyosaki looses all the money he has today, can he make his money back? The answer is yes, but how come? Because he still owns his knowledge, skills, relationships, reputation etc. So here you will find 5 powerful tips on how to get rich.

Tip #1. Develop your core gift.
I’m sure that every person has some activities or things he or she loves doing. All of us are good at something. Well, if you want to answer the question of “how to get rich” for you, make yourself a master of that activity you are good at and then monetize it. There has never been any limit to the things that humans want and need. Right now in the 21st Century, we do not have excuses any longer, especially with the way technology has changed our lives.
Tip # 2 – Befriend Money.
Highly successful people know that money is a neutral thing and follows the value you put into the world. Most people actually shun money without intentionally meaning to. They may seem to want money but their words, actions and subconscious mind consider money as dirty, evil or hard to come by. The Law of Attraction plays a bit of a role here. If you want to find out how to get rich, consider money as something good and your mind will be highly attuned to opportunities to earn the same. While listening to a Tony Robbins audio program, I learnt a really neat distinction.

Tip # 3 – Expand your Network.
Bear in mind that no man is an island. All billionaires you see in the Forbes list became rich by the help of a network of people. Even the so-called billionaires by inheritance will become dirt poor if all customers and business partners cease to buy their goods or use their services. Only people buy goods and use the services offered. Hence, the only way for you to become rich is to work constantly on growing and developing your network.
Tip # 4 – Multiply Your Financial Knowledge.
No rich person became one by accident. Rich people are highly versed in financial matters and techniques. And we are not talking here of people who instantly became rich through lottery winnings. If you do a research concerning the fate of lotto jackpot winners or even the highly paid athletes, you will be shocked to know that most of them will become broke within an average of 3 years from winning the lotto, in the case of lotto winners, or from retirement in case of athletes. Why is this so? The glaring fact is that they did not have financial knowledge on how to manage their wealth properly and wisely. In a way, how to get rich can be an easy task, but to maintain the wealth achieved may not be. So treat gaining financial knowledge as a priority.
Tip # 5 – Make every Dollar Count.
I know that this is a boring tip and I know that you are telling me that this is just common sense. But unfortunately the common sense is not that common and what’s worse is, when it is not practiced Track your expenses. Develop financial discipline. Make a budget and stick with it. If you study the lives of the very wealthy people, you will learn that they won’t spend a nickel on trivial purchases but they will not spare a dollar on lucrative investments. Of course, when you got your first billion, it won’t hurt to splurge luxuriously and enjoy your success. But until then, be very wary how you spend your money.
The fact is that, there is no single way of becoming rich but it is a combination of ways and means that will bring about the financial success one is aiming at. Nonetheless, the five ways for how to get rich as explained above are sufficient guide for anyone who has an open mind, is willing and motivated to get rich. If you refuse to accept failures as the final determinant of your achievements, then there is no other direction for you but towards definitive success and riches.

Great post, I like the way you have explained these timeless truths. Speaking of timeless, I love Napoleon Hill, I discovered spirituality through his principles.
Sound odd? I was an Athiest, I followed Napoleon, I became a believer in the law of attraction and infinite intelligence… Then I started thinking what is the difference between infinite intelligence and God?
What a strange route to starting on a journey of soulful self discovery… Through a business book!
