How To Overcome Your Obstacles
This blog post is going to real short and sweet and will help you handle your fears and obstacles and overcome them. It will give you the ammunition to keep going despite setbacks and failures. You might be at a point in your life where nothing seems to be working and you’re hit from all angles with various challenges, financial and otherwise. Reading this post and following the recommendations here will be just what you need to get your life back on track.
I’m re-reading my copy of the classic book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by best-selling author, Robert Kiyosaki. The chapter I’m currently reading deals with overcoming obstacles. In the book, Robert discusses the differencebetween rich people and poor people. He says that the primary difference between a rich person and a poor person is how they manage their fears. They handle their fear of losing differently. You see, sometimes people are so afraid of losing that they actually lose.
Fran Tarkenton, a one-time great NFL quarterback, has a great quote about winning. Here’s what he said:
“Winning means being unafraid to lose.” Wow! That’s powerful. Read it again.
Winning usually follows losing. It usually follows defeat.
For most people, the reason they don’t win financially and in other areas of their lives is because the pain of losing money is far greater than the joy of being rich.
Winners are not afraid to fail. They don’t bury their failures. Instead, they get inspired by them. They take their failures and turn them into rallying cries. This is the formula for all winners.
Failure inspires winners. On the other hand, failure defeats losers.
Winners are not afraid of losing.
According to Robert, the reason that over 90 percent of the public struggles financially is because they play not to lose. They don’t play to win.
Let me give you a small gift at this time to remind you to never give up on your dreams.
Do you know these people?
He failed and went broke five times before succeeding. His name is Henry Ford.
He failed seven times before his store in New York City caught on. His name is R.H. Macy.
He was once cut from his high school basketball team. His name is Michael Jordan.
When she began her study of acting, she was told to find another profession. Her name is Lucille Ball.
She was told by the head of a modeling agency to be a secretary or marry. Her name is Marilyn Monroe.
He once held the record for the most strikeouts in baseball…and most home runs. His name is Babe Ruth.
He was fired by a newspaper editor because he lacked “imagination and good ideas.” His name is Walt Disney.
Were these people exceptional? Many people think so. What sets them apart from other people was their extraordinary drive to move forward despite any “perceived” obstacles that got in their way. Yes, all obstacles are perceived by us to be obstacles. There is always a solution and these people focused on finding solutions that got them closer to their dreams. They kept their eyes on the prize at all times.
The next time you experience an obstacle, recognize it as a perceived one. Focus on the solution and not the problem. If you do this, moving forward is a piece of cake. Then you are that much closer to the whole pie!
There is a powerful video someone shared with me on Facebook that goes into some secrets of how to overcome your obstacles. I believe you will get some value out of it like I did. Enjoy!
