Justin Timberlake Speaks On The Value Of Hard Work

Was taking a look at some videos on YouTube this morning and came across a short video that spoke volumes to me. I had to watch a few times because it so impacted me. It’s a video of Justin Timberlake talking about the importance of working hard in any endeavor that you find yourself in. This is a guy who is a master at his craft and only got to where he is by putting in countless hours to master the art of music and entertainment.

There is something he said in the video that really resonated with me. He talked about putting all of yourself into something that you think is worth having. Hmmm…This is profound. I hope you catch what he was trying to say here.

”Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.” This is an old Chinese proverb that is so true in this day and age. Hard work sometimes seems to be something that’s dying in our culture. We sometimes hear people talking about working smart and not hard, as if hard work should be considered a taboo. Let me tell you this. Any one who is successful today has had to

go in the ditches and has had to dig real hard to find the gold. You just don’t find something as valuable as gold lying on the streets where anyone could just pick it up. You’ve got to go through tons and tons of dirt to find gold.  That’s why it is so precious. A lot of us have failed in our responsibilities to our children in that we have failed to teach them the value of hard work.

There is immense value in hard work in that it teaches us persistence, perseverance and determination. Don’t rely on someone else giving you things all the time. Work for it instead. You will derive great satisfaction from getting something you worked hard for than for something that someone just handed down to you. Don’t be afraid of hard work. The more difficult the work is, the greater the happiness in winning.

Some Hard Work Quotes:

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” – Vince Lombardi

“The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American dream.” – Tommy Hilfiger

There is no substitute for hard work.” – Thomas A. Edison

“Through hard work, perseverance and a faith in God, you can live your dreams.” – Benjamin Carson

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” – Stephen King
