My goal with this post is to expose 4 very simple ways to grow your LinkedIn network without much effort. These are things you can do 15 mins daily to have tremendous results. When using LinkedIn, it is very important to update your profile to be consistent with the image you’re trying to portray on the site about your business. I recommend you spend 15 minutes today to get that taken care of. You can do this by signing up for LinkedIn (if you don’t already have an account) or logging in  (if you already have an account) and then go to PROFILE, then EDIT PROFILE.

If you don’t know what to write your profile, take a look at other people’s profile in your industry to see what they have written. Don’t copy them hook line and sinker. Adapt it and make it fit your personality.

Adding A Person To Your Network

You can find people by typing their name in the SEARCH box. You can also find people you want to connect with by going to your friends’ profile and take a look at their connections. Send them an invite with a personal note. You could say something like:

Hi (his or her name), LinkedIn suggested that I add you as a connection. After looking at your profile, I’d have to agree. Looking forward to connecting. – (Your name)

If they are in the same group with you, all you have to do is invite them to connect with you and say something like this in your personal message:

Hi (his or her name), as we are both members of the (name of group) Group, I thought I would introduce myself personally. I’d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn. – “Your name”

It is important for you not to promote your product or services in that invitation phase.

You can start out by inviting Etieno(me) to connect with you on LinkedIn.

The Importance of Joining Groups

To search for groups on LinkedIn, all you need to do is click on “Groups”, then click on “Groups Directory”. It will then give you an option to type in a subject relevant to your business, for example “network marketing” or “MLM” or “Real Estate”, etc. When you get suggestions on the groups to join, go ahead and read the details and then join if it appeals to you. Some of them will allow you to join automatically. Others will require that the administrator the group accept your request to join the group. Once you’re accepted, you’ll be sent an email confirming that you have been accepted.

As a member of the group, you can see all the members of the group and comments people are making within the group. You can go through the list and add them to your network. Don’t forget to send a personalized message as discussed earlier. You can also comment on the posts in the group. If people find your comment to be of value, they are likely to send you an invitation to connect.

The key is to stay consistent with using these strategies. You may not see an increase in your connections over night but it will happen if you keep at it. LinkedIn is a fantastic resource for making new contacts, prospects and ultimately customers.
