The Death of Fear
There are some of you who are going through stuff in your lives and have been wondering how to conquer the fears you have within you. Today’s blog post will address certain things you can do to face your fears and conquer them. Now, it’s not going to be an easy process but if you do what is recommended here, your life will take on a whole new meaning.
In order to conquer your fears, you must be willing to take a leap of faith in the direction of your dreams. Your self-talk must be positive. Be willing to push yourself beyond your limits. It’s interesting to note that you won’t know how far you can go until you push yourself too far. The great reggae singer, Bob Marley, once said that:
“You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”
As you work on making yourself more able to face your fears, go out and buy a book entitled “What to say when you talk to yourself.” Just as mentioned earlier, you’ve got to learn to speak positive things about yourself and to yourself. You’ve got to talk to yourself. Sometimes, it will be the most intelligent conversation you will have. Speaking positive things to yourself will help change your state and feelings and will make you feel better. Learn to focus on things that make you feel good instead of things that make you feel crappy.
Be bold and courageous and remember that courage is not the absence of fear, it’s having the fear and doing it anyway. Whatever you’re afraid, go ahead and do it now. Psyche yourself, program yourself and tell yourself you’re going to be successful. Tell yourself that you have the courage to take action.
What you have to realize is that everyone has something in life they’re afraid of. Even people that you think are very fearless and successful have things that they’re afraid of. The difference between people who are successful and people who are not is that the successful people feel the fear and do it anyway. It is important to note that you’ll never go over that fear unless you build your courage muscles. The death of fear goes away when you do what you’re afraid of.
If you try to face your fear and fail initially, don’t beat yourself up for failing, instead congratulate yourself for trying. This means you’re pushing and stretching yourself. Someone once said that we should double our rate of failure if we want to increase our chances for success. Failure is the key to success. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.
The choice is yours. You can either choose to live your dreams or live your fears. What is it that you’re afraid of? What are you scared of? The reason that most people are not living out their true potential is because of fear. There is an acronym for fear that I want you to familiarize yourself with. It is: “False Evidence Appearing Real.” It is interesting to note that a huge percentage of the things we’re afraid of never come to pass. That should give you a certain level of peace to know that most of the things that you fear will never happen. That’s comforting!
Resolve to never let your fear immobilize you. The key to destroying your fears is to acknowledge them. Don’t condemn yourself for being afraid. It’s perfectly fine to have fear. Make your move and act on whatever it is you’re afraid of. Embrace your fear and don’t resist it because whatever you resist will persist. When you face your fears, you’ll discover it’s not as bad as you think it is.
Imagine the worst case scenario and let it motivate you to take action immediately to prevent it from happening. It is important to close your eyes for a few seconds and visualize yourself being more than able to handle the thing you’re afraid of. You’re more than capable. You’ve got the right stuff in you. You’ve got unlimited potential. Resolve to move on past your fear and do what you have to do to succeed.
Watch your inner conversations and train your mind. Stand up inside yourself. That’s what you’ve got to do in life to be a success. When you look at your fears, you can decide to use them as a distraction or to use them as building blocks.
Whenever you get into a situation that you’re afraid, repeat this simple sentence over and over:
Make a decision to acknowledge your fear and go forth in a spirit and a knowing that there is a way you can begin to handle what you’re afraid of. Remember that you have the capacity to face your fear. Instead of feeling powerless, begin to feel powerful. Decide within yourself and say to yourself:
“No matter what happens, I’m going to make it!”
Remember that where there’s a will, there’s a way. When you have that kind of resolution, nothing can stop you. Decide that you’re not going to allow your fears to stop you.
Feel the fear and do it anyway. If you do that, what would your life be like? All of us have the capacity to face our fears. It won’t be easy but you can do it. Sometimes, you may need someone to help you out. Be willing to ask for assistance as you assess your strengths and your weaknesses.
Mark Twain once said, “Do the thing you fear most and the death of fear is certain.”
Decide that you’re going to start living life on a new level. Give of yourself to help others who are in need. Everything you do for yourself, you’ll take with you but everything you do for others will live beyond you. Start thinking about the difference you want to make in other people’s lives. Figure out what dreams you want to resurrect within you as well. Get to a point in your life where you decide that there is more to life than what you have been living. Dare to dream and dare to step out of your comfort zone because all growth happens when you get out of your comfort zone.
Go ahead and conquer your fears. You’re stronger than your fears. You have unlimited potential in you and you have something in you that wasn’t here in the Universe before you showed up. You can have fears but don’t let your fears have you. Go out and make things happen today.
Face your fears head on!
