Top Five Reasons Why People Fail at Online Network Marketing

In the next few minutes, I will be sharing with you the top 5 reasons why most people fail at online network marketing. I came across a post by one of my mentors, Ray Higdon, and thought I’d share some thoughts with you.

No one goes into business to fail. So, why are so many people failing at online network marketing? What mistakes are they making and how can you avoid these mistakes? By now, I am sure, you have read the rather gloomy news that approximately 95% of all network marketing businesses fail within the first two years. Bearing this in mind, and knowing fully well that this is a statistic no one wants to keep seeing in print, this post will explore five reasons why people fail at online network marketing and the mistakes to avoid so that your network marketing business will be among the top 5% to flourish and beat the odds.

In his blog post, Ray shared the following 5 reasons why people fail at online network marketing:

Reason #1: They Stop Prospecting

They forget what they used to do to generate business offline. They stop attending any offline meetings and think that’s not cool anymore. They spend most of their time watching webinars, getting on conference calls and reading e-books instead of doing the most important thing, which is prospecting and generating leads for their business. Prospecting is the life-blood of your business. The moment you stop prospecting, your business dies. You want to spend at least 70% of your time prospecting.

Reason #2 – They don’t attend Online Network Marketing events

Most online network marketers have never attended an online network marketing event before. Attending these events give you the belief in the industry. You get to see and meet people who are having tremendous success and gets you to the point where you say “if that one can, I can too.” Your belief goes through the roof when you attend these events because you learn the skills necessary to have success in this area. You also learn to develop the right mindset that will drive in the direction of success.

Reason #3 – They don’t invest in their business

Think about it. If you started a traditional business, would you spend the money required to get your business into profits? Absolutely. You would spend the money required to get high tech equipment, you would spend money on advertising, etc to run the business efficiently. The interesting thing is that most people start a network marketing business and are not willing to invest in the business. They try to build their business without spending any money to get the necessary tools required to take their business to the next level. They want to get everything for free.

Reason #4 – They try to learn everything

They basically get overwhelmed because they’re exposed to so much information that they don’t know which ones to focus on. They become frustrated as they try to learn SEO, blogging, social media marketing, video marketing, PPC, etc. New network marketers come into the business and try to learn everything about the company’s products, compensation plan and marketing system. They go through all the training for months before they do something that will produce any income for them.

Reason #5 – They think online mlm marketing is fast

Some people just don’t give their online network marketing business enough time to develop. They put the effort in, post a few ads and just when they are about to have their “aah haa moment” they give up.  Most people quit too soon. The fact that you’re not seeing anything happen doesn’t mean that it’s not happening. If you stick around long enough, amazing things can happen in your business.
